Families Anonymous (FA) is a twelve-step program for relatives and friends of addicts. FA was founded in 1971 by a group of parents in Southern California concerned with their children's substance abuse. As of 2007 there are FA meetings in more than 20 countries and about 225 regular meetings in the United States. A survey of FA groups in Lisbon, Portugal found members were mostly female, 45-60 years old, and mothers of substance abusing children.

The focus of FA on supporting members rather than changing the behavior of their friend or relative with a substance abuse problem. Tough love is suggested as an approach to use when dealing with addicts—members do not need to rescue addicts from the consequences of problems the addicts have created, and members should be willing to offend addicts if necessary. One study suggested the therapeutic effects of participation included a process of internalization from the stories and information shared, rationalization and freeing from guilt regarding the behavior of the abuser, and The Traditions protecting anonymity which allow members to reduce potential stigma acquired from membership.

FA's original literature includes the book Today a Better Way on the principles of the FA program, a newsletter, the Twelve Step Rag, as well as several pamphlets and booklets.

A. Contact a lawyer, it's not illegal to do what she's doing but a letter form a lawyer to her family could set her straight! Also, it'd be better to confront her, but if you don't want to or are unable to do that then contact her family and show them the passive-aggressive nature of the things she's saying, and hope they try and resolve the issue.

Would you be able to share, even to a faceless and anonymous person on Answers, let alone a family member or?
Q. friend that have totry to look in the eye, that you had been sexually "assaulted"? (Possiibly even mulitple times?) Thid includes ANY period in your life, including childhood! PS (I hate those two words; asault and molest. makes it sound like a minor inccident.)

A. Maybe to a faceless stranger, but not to any of my family. Not that they wouldn't be loving and supportive, but I think they would try to track the guy down and kill him.

is it a violation of privacy if your neighbor is monitoring your property line with an audio amplifier?
Q. We have recently received some anonymous letters stating our dog howls when we are away. We are trying to correct the problem. Evidently, my neighbor in order to make his/her case has placed an audio amplifier on my back fence line in order to ?? It is 5 feet from our deck that we spend time on therefore causing us not to be able to utilize this space for fear of violation of privacy as the neighbor could be listening into our private conversations about family, friends, money, whatever. Does he/she have a right to monitor this? what's the penalty if enforced?

A. File a complaint for the installation of the audio amplifier because it is technically recording voice messages from your house which is an intrusion into privacy which is protected under the Bill of Rights of the Constitution.
