A ball is a round, usually spherical but sometimes ovoid, object with various uses. It is used in ball games, where the play of the game follows the state of the ball as it is hit, kicked or thrown by players. Balls can also be used for simpler activities, such as catch, marbles and juggling. Balls made from hard-wearing materials are used in engineering applications to provide very low friction bearings, known as ball bearings. Black powder weapons use stone and metal balls as projectiles.

Although many types of balls are today made from rubber, this form was unknown outside the Americas until after the voyages of Columbus. The Spanish were the first Europeans to see bouncing rubber balls (albeit solid and not inflated) which were employed most notably in the Mesoamerican ballgame. Balls used in various sports in other parts of the world prior to Columbus were made from other materials such as animal bladders or skins, stuffed with various materials.

What is the hardest hitting bowling ball on todays market?
Q. I have always heard people saying that certain bowling balls hit harder than others. I'm not sure how this happens, say someone throws a 16lb ball at 17mph, isn't any ball thrown going to hit with the same power every time? If it is true that certain balls hit harder than others, which hits the hardest. Right now i'm thinking about buying the Brunswick Seige or the Hammer Jigsaw.

A. In PBA events, my best friend tells me the most popular balls are currently made by Storm, Roto Grip, and the balls manufactured by 900 Global. He is in the top 5 in points in our region, so I take him at his word. Keep in mind, ANY ball can hit like a sherman tank, and ANY ball can hit like a bag of marshmallows depending on how the ball matches up to the person's game and the lane conditions they are bowling on. The key to being happy with a new ball purchase is getting a ball that matches up to your preferred style, and the lane conditions you bowl on. Do you hook the ball or do you throw it straight? Do you have alot of ball speed, medium speed or slower speed? What lane surface are you bowling on? How oily are the lanes? The… [cont.]

How do i put the ball back on my nose ring?
Q. I got my nose pierced two days ago and i have the ring with a ball that has the two little holes. While i was cleaning it the ball popped off and i have no i dea how to get it back on. I have tried for almost an hour with no luck and i was wondering if anyone has any suggestions or if i should just go back to the tattoo shop and ask them to do it? As of right now the ring is still in my nose with an opening where the ball was. If i go back to the tattoo shop will they be able to help me?

A. First of all the captive bead rings are usually really hard to take out, and the fact that yours just popped off while cleaning sounds to me like they did not put it in right in the first place, because you usually need pliers just to get the bead off. You could try putting the ring in the holes in the bead and using pliers to push the ring tightly into the holes but I know from personal experiance that it is really hard to do and can be almost impossible. I would really recommend going back to the place you got it done and get them to put it back in for you.

How do you kick a soccer ball without it going really high in the air?
Q. I see like a lot of pros kick the ball from really far distances and it flies straight into the goal. Everytime I try to kick the ball hard, it goes like high into the air. What part of my feet and the ball should I kick at so it can go far but at a much lower height.

A. alot of the pros kicks go blazing over the crossbar too . it's a matter of which part of the ball you strike with your foot. if your foot goes towards the centre of the ball with the inside of your foo it is less likely to go high than if you hit it with your toes under the ball
